Chapter 4, Block 13

Block 13 is an easy introduction to fitting motifs in half square triangles. The main focus on this block tends to be the big motif you are framing, but there's the option to liven up the corners with a fun fussy cut. It's a low risk way to trying out this technique before we move onto more difficult blocks! We hope you enjoy Anita's marvelous marking techniques - they really make a world of difference in how to visualize your fussy cuts!

We love how Anita used her corners to showcase cute little kitty cats!

Chapter 3, Block 12

Block 12 is all about playing with scale. We find this to be extra interesting when you pick a theme for your block and just go with it! It can be extra tricky finding motifs that are similar but range in size from 1" to 3", but that challenge is all part of the fun.

Chapter 3, Block 11

Block 11 focuses on achieving transparency! We know this sounds easy, but it can be super tricky to find just the right fabrics to create that woven effect! Good luck, we can't wait to see your blocks!

Chapter 3, Block 10

Block 10's lesson focuses on value basics. The goal is to pick two colors, then find 3 different tones for each color to create some visual interest.

Chapter 3, Block 9

Block 9 focuses on avoiding distracting backgrounds. This is a pretty crucial lesson that will carry on through the rest of the book. In order to make your fussy cut motifs really pop, it's essential to create balance in your blocks. We both approach our block balance in different ways, and we're looking forward to seeing what you do!

Chapter 2, Block 8

Of all the stripe blocks, this one is our favorite! With just 3 stripes and some thoughtful cutting decisions, you can create a really interesting secondary pattern!

Our guest poster, Alyce of Blossom hearts Quilts substituted a text print as a stripe to achieve a similar flow of designs through her block!

Chapter 2, Block 7

Block 7 is a little trickier than earlier stripe blocks, since the challenge is to use a shape imitating a stripe to achieve a similar effect! There's an extra layer of challenge to try and get your designs to line up seamlessly for that continuous design look.

Chapter 2, Block 6

Block 6 takes our lessons in stripes to the next level, with a focus on creating movement and intrigue, while still giving your eye a place to rest in the block.

We love this block by our guest poster, Jeni of In Color Order! Her use of a bias stripe really adds another layer of interest to her block!

Chapter 2, Block 5

It's time for our very first block focused exclusively on stripes. Like the beginning blocks in Chapter 1, this block focuses on the cutting basics required to make a cohesive stripe block with just a little extra thought required before piecing. We can't wait to see your blocks!
